Reviews for St. Petersburg Russian Restaurant & Dining Club

Great fun for a night out with friends - and a must for steak fans.
The Russian music and dancing is fun, and adds interest to a night out - although it might be a little intrusive if you were looking for a quiet meal...
I can recommend the fillet steak (in my opinion, only outdone by Gaucho Grills on this - and the nearest one of those is Manchester) and the stroganoff - so nice to find a restaurant that actually knows what goes in stroganoff (not two cans of tomatoes and some random herbs, thank you very much...).
The wine list was also good, although, of course, if you're being traditional, it should be vodka all the way.
Overall, it's a lot of fun, and great food, at not outrageous prices. Recommend.

St. Petersburg Russian Restaurant is great for a fun night out with friends! I don't think it would be enjoyable for a romantic meal because it is a lively and busy place, with Russian live music followed by EuroPop dancing on some nights, but if you want a good laugh and unusual yet yummy food then you've found the right place.
I've been twice, both times for birthday parties, and enjoyed the very friendly and efficient service combined with a vast menu suitable for carnivores and vegetarians. Don't forget to sample from the huge vodka menu where you can chose from classics such as Stoli or more unusual drinks such as Bisongrass vodka or Wild Strawberry vodka.

Located in the centre of Liverpool, this traditional restaurant has 2 main dining rooms, live music and entertainment (aka a dancing lady) most nights. It is very lively, the staff are really friendly and they have a extensive food and vodka menus. You have to be careful not to be pulled up to dance though!

For starters, my friend had borsch morskoy. It's a beetroot and veg soup with russian smoked salmon, prawns and lemon. It was in a pot with bread baked over the pot, sealing the hot soup in. Very nice touch...the bread was surprisingly flavoursome and I had to stop myself from asking to 'taste' his soup again and again. I had salmon blini. The pancake was light and fluffy, the filling of salmon was cooked with eggs, onion and cream. Very nice but I think it prefer smoked salmon.

For my main, I had fillet steak baked in pastry with a mushroom and black olive paste. The steak was just the right amount of juiciness, the pastry was crispy and flaky and the filling was delicately flavoured. The mains portions are quite big so I was a bit stuffed at this point.

If you feel like shelling out, you can get caviar (they have black and red). They also have a good selection of clear and flavoured vodkas (some you can buy by the bottle) and russian beers. Worth a try - you only live once :D I'd say this place was expensive (for Liverpool prices). Starters are sort of between £5-£12, mains £13-£25.
