Reviews for Tate Liverpool
As a sporadic visitors to Tate Britain in London We were interested to visit Tate Liverpool at Albert Dock on the banks of the Mersey although a much smaller venue than its London counterpart it was worth a visit arriving in the late afternoon we had expected it to only be open for a further 45 minutes but were greated by a friendly staff member who informed us that this was the first day of their late night opening in the month of august so check your guide books The galleries had a wide range of interesting exhibits some of which we loved and others which left you scratching your head in confusion but thats often the way with modern art Although free to get in (donations) entrance to The Gustav Klimt exhibition was over £8 per person and as we were not over familiar with his work we did not go in
The Tate in Liverpool is not as big as the one in London so be prepared. You can see all the exhibits in about an hour or two depending on how quick you are. The art work is very contemporary so don’t expect the classics! There are a lot of unusual sculptures which are quite interesting. There is also a good gift shop. The Tate is located in Albert dock which is really pretty. There are many shops and cafes around so you can leisurely stroll the dock. I would recommend visiting the Tate if you are an art lover and appreciate modern art.
Tate Liverpool in Liverpool's historic Albert Dock is an international Modern and Contemporary Art Museum with a truly outstanding collection in a breath taking setting.
The Tate shows 2 types of exhibits - an ever changing display from the Tate Collection and Special Exhibitions (entrance charged).
The Tate Collection, currently shown as 'The Twentieth Century: how it looked and how it felt', is updated often enough to offer something even for regular visitors, and manages to show classic works in a new and intriguing context.
Special exhibitions are world renowned and highlights have been Dali, the Turner Prize 2007 and Gustav Klimt.
