It is a cafe, so not the sort of place you'd go to for an evening meal (i'm not sure what time it is open till), more of a lunch or coffee place, but then again it is quite expensive so I haven't given it a high rating.

Reviews for Tate Cafe
The Tate Cafe is a pleasant, stylish, minimalist arty type cafe. It is a nice place to stop if you are visiting the art gallery or the albert dock.

Nice pleasant stylish cafe if you don't mind spending that little bit more.
...Not really, but it seemed like a good title.
There are a few things that aren't great about this place, but the food and drink isn't one of them.
The prices are a little steep in places, and the ambience is a little impersonal/service station, given the space (v. high ceilinged, glass wall onto the outside world).
However, the menu is innovative, and the staff are pleasant and helpful, and given the dearth of decent places to get a cup of coffee in Liverpool City Centre, this place is doing pretty well. As a cafe attached to a tourist attraction, it's remarkably free from the horrors of such places (cold/dried up sandwiches in the fridges, extortionate prices, the feeling that you are on a production line, and that they'd have a conveyor belt taking you straight to the loo if they could...)
Pretty good place to stop off during a day out - not worth trekking out to the docks just for it.
Tate Cafe has been recently refurbished and now has the capacity to cater for 120 people. But unfortunately - despite the friendly service - it feels as busy and impersonal as this sounds. The high ceiling doesn't help; the acoustics make this feel loud and busy even when it is not full to capacity.
Food is 'contemporary British' and good - the Tate Cafe is member of the North West Fine Foods Association, using fresh and locally sourced products to make home cooked dishes. Light lunches like Panzanella Salad or Shrimps and bread will set you back £5.50, main courses like pumpkin and ricotta rotollo or fishcakes are £7.55.
