I got a take away menu through the door a few months ago from an Indian restaurant/take away claiming to have "the best pizza's in town".

The thing was, it was the only take away in Birkenshaw. Just a few weeks later, Mama's Kitchen opened and it blows them out of the water completely.

Mama's Kitchen is run by Adam Mileusnic and Xavier Espinosa, from private premesis in Birkenshaw. Chef Xavier who has worked in Spain, Australia, South America and Italy, offers a range of pizzas with a range of specials from time to time. Adam runs the phone and delivery service.

Together, they offer a food and service that is unparalleled.

As they only offer a delivery service, orders are placed by phone, the friendly voice at the other end always has a smile attached.

The delivery is fast and friendly, and the service is very personalised - as in Adam not just remembers my address but also my name when ordering.

If the service is 5-star rated then there needs to be a sixth star for food. The freshly baked pizza's really are just that. The dough is rolled to order. Not in a pre-made dish, but the ray a roller would. They're rectangular-ish in shape, as in really hand made.

The fresh ingredients include tomato's rather than puree and just the right amount of cheese and oregano. The same goes for any other ingredients you choose.

For the brave, they also offer desert pizza's. Pizza baked with chocolate instead of tomato and cheese, with strawberry's or pears on top, and nuts if you like. They sound scary, but are delicious. Went down a storm at a recent party.

So, really friendly and helpful with great tasting food. They also run an outside catering firm, Xavier Catering and I'm hoping to try some of the other exiting dishes on offer from them at one of their community events soon.
