Reviews for Thai Cottage
Thai cottage does the best food in Leeds in my opinion! i couldn't possibly pick a favourite off their menu if i tried because all of their food is just mouth watering goodness!! I don't think that they are that expensive because the quality of the food is fantastic! They are quite quick making your order as i have never had to wait longer than 10 minutes and that is when it has been busy. They also do a great vegetarian selection of food which my wife loves! You can either eat in or out. This is the only place i will go for thai food.
I've always believed that the throbbing heart of Thai food lies in street food - the whole variety and array of flavours that are whipped together as a good honest explosion of flavour. Where there's a real focus on delivering just a few dishes really well, rather than trying to deliver too much in a mediocre fashion.
And Thai Cottage is as close to this ethos as you'll get in Leeds. While some of the better known restaurants are very good in their way, sometimes you're left feeling that something is lost - and it's often the flavour.
Here it's relatively small, unpretentious, but nicely decorated. Good service and pleasant surroundings attract a real mixed crowd - from single diners through to larger groups, business people and families - all lured in by the tasty food and friendly welcome. It's the genuine Thai affair with favourites such as fried pork with garlic and holy basil, a range of curries and stir fries. And with Singha and Chang beer to wash it all down, you really can't go wrong.
Tucked away between the town hall and LGI, Thai Cottage is a real treat for food lovers. It's a cafe-style thai restaurant, cheap and cheerful but with delicious food and great prices.
Early evenings are the best time to go, they offer a deal where you get a starter and main (chosen from basically the whole menu) for about £7.50.
Vegetarian friendly as well, the meat can be replaced with tofu for no extra charge (vegans will be out of luck as thai food relies on fish sauce).
The very friendly and efficient staff get the food to you very quickly, and there's always enough to make you groan if you polish off the lot
