Reviews for Music Ground

I hate to throw out a thumbs down to a well (...ish) stocked music store. As we all know it's a dying day for music trade due to the current economic situation and many are putting hooks in those that try and do not buy mainly due to not being able to keep up with internet trades/pricing. It's a real shame because at first the store seemed rather inviting with all it's bright colors and guitars crammed in every conceivable space but that awe and excitement soon turned into "what the f..." due to the ridiculous prices. Some items were actually rather competitive and some seemed to just be horribly approximately priced regardless of general market pricing. I went in looking for a Hot Rod Deluxe and Tiny Terror and so after browsing through the store I finally asked to try out the Deluxe, one of the few items that were not marked with a price tag. Anyway so I tried out the amp with a swollen pickle and a MXR 108 Classic Fuzz. I asked him how much after a good 10 minutes and eventually came up with the price £600 which actually is the highest price I've ever seen for it! So with that out of the window I carried on debating on these two pedals and settled on the MXR and did a quick price check on it and found I could get it £40 cheaper at my local store! (Which of course I wasn't surprised) So I ended up with no great intention of buying anything in the end! Awkwardly handing the pedals back I tried to negotiate a price and I showed him I could get it for £499.99 at Andertons and all over the place! This guy wasn't having any of it, didn't even try to talk a sale and instead he came out saying something along the lines of "well you should have gone over there to try and buy it instead of waste my time blah blah etc" And continued to say I'm twat. Now I'm no expert but I'd say that's a little rude. (I didn't crack the amp up or anything like some do!) So I'm leaving that down to the napoleon complex that so clearly haunts him. Poor little man. Anyway to cut a long story short. Just don't bother going in.

Got quoted £50 for my vintage Selmer amp head. Cheeky man said he'd use it for spares. Why I oughta... Yeah, so I rang around several good chaps who repair and service such items and they all said I should be looking at around £150 to £200. You do the math. (Music Ground can't!)

I used to get dragged in here week in, week out with my ex and despite knowing nothing much about guitars I can't say I ever minded it as much as some of the other guitar shops around. The staff are lovely, really friendly and they really know their stuff. You can be sure they wouldn't rip you off if you walked in there not knowing a thing. They have older guitars up the stairs with loads of memorobilia and signed pictures / photos and it's nice and relaxed. There is no sales pressure and they are happy to just have a chat. I recently bought a guitar from here for my brother and feel like I left well-informed and with a good deal. Friendly people, brilliant guitar shop.
