Darvish Traditional Persian Tea House & Restaurant
283 Roundhay Road, Leeds, LS8 4HS
Every time I've visited, I have had a wonderful time. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is really lovely and the place is tastefully decorated, there's a lot to look at in terms of traditional Persian art and ornaments, and there's a homely feel about the place, nothing too clinical.

I agree, he must be thinking of the wrong place :)
Every time I've visited, I have had a wonderful time. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is really lovely and the place is tastefully decorated, there's a lot to look at in terms of traditional Persian art and ornaments, and there's a homely feel about the place, nothing too clinical.
The kitchen is within the restaurant, so without it being too noisy you can see your food being prepared in the big bread oven, and the food itself is frankly amazing. The meat is so tender and juicy, but since I've become a vegetarian I've found that the veggie options are no less delicious and there is a wide variety too.
I must note that the rice is mouth-watering, the best I've ever had - it separates really nicely and you get a nice portion of saffron-infused rice too (an absolute must in middle-eastern cuisine, nothing quite like it). And I don't even like rice that much!
If you're going to visit Darvish, I'd recommend the Ghormeh Sabzi - a dish with loads of tasty green herbs with tender diced lamb, or for vegetarians, gorgeous steamed mushrooms, and it's served with a whole dried lime just to give it extra flavour (but don't eat that, i learnt the hard way). Also, the Saffron ice-cream for dessert is to die for (such a versatile spice!)
The price is very reasonable, and I can afford to treat myself to a Darvish once a week of whenever I like - and I will never get bored.
Totally don't understand Hamid S's review - one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! Go and eat there!
Literally cannot believe the review from HamidS. This place is fantastic and the staff have always been lovely. I've never seen them being rude to anyone, even when dealing with mistakes/problems.
Fantastic, tender meat. Eat there and make up your own minds
I only wish trusted places had negative rating! Out of the many years that I have eaten out, I simply can not remember being left with such a bad experience as I had with this place!
My starter, for instance came with a piece of hair in it and a half-burnt naan! I decided to mention the hair to the owner who was waitering at the time, who after a short spell in what I presume was the kitchen came out and instead of apologising, accused me of planting it myself! I hadn't even asked him to replace the starter or anything! I decided to let this pass, and waited for the main course, which I had specifically asked to come with a salad, rather than the tradition rice.
What I received after a long wait however, was the main dish accompanied by the smallest portion of salad I have ever seen! It looked like something you'd from a kid's menu! I again decided to tell the owner, who told me that I had not asked specifically for a "main course" salad, which I had and even proved to him in front of the waiter. Not only did they reprimand me several times, they also lied to me in my face!
Having been accused of planting hair in the food, and not being brought what I specifically asked for, and never been said sorry through-out, I decided to take the food home. The reply I got was that my order was to be on the house, even though i was only looking for a simple apology! I decided that I had enough of the place and decided to leave after they failed to provide me with my container, which is again a simple instruction!
To my surprise the owner then came out of the shop and threatened me if I said anything bad to anyone about the restauarnt! He said that if i did, he would tell everyone it was because i wanted free food! Haha...it was actually comical! Good luck to him!
Great food - well cooked and served. Friendly welcome and good atmosphere

I don't understand why you would act in this manner. The staff there are very polite and always willing to do everything for you....to ensure your experience of this extradanory restuarant is pleasant.
I don't know where you are from, but your name suggests you are also from same neck of the woods, do you have issues with persia?!!!
