Really good food here and up there as one of the best Indian's around. Not quite as good as Zouk in my opinion but still a quality place to eat.

Reviews for Akbar's The Grand

Really good food here and up there as one of the best Indian's around. Not quite as good as Zouk in my opinion but still a quality place to eat.

I would probably rate Akbar's as the best Indian restaurant in the whole of Leeds. Not only are the staff and service spot on, the food is delicious and they serve all that can be expected from an Indian menu.

I personally love Indian food so I think i'm a good judge after sampling many many dishes! There are also a good number of vegetarian options available, in all spice thresholds.

The food is excellent value for money, especially when considering the great customer service you will receive. Furthermore, Akbars is situated in a very convenient place in Leeds for you to go out for a few drinks afterwards, or get the bus home.

This is an excellent indian restaurant. The food and service are extremely good and quick. The decor is quite dark and contemporary and there's a buzz to the atmosphere. I would recommend it for a night out, but you need to go early at weekends it does get extremely busy. The menu comprises the usual bhunas, dhansak etc, but they also have a number of specials. I can highly recommend the king prawn special. The naan breads are VERY LARGE - even a small one would easily feed four people so don't order one each! After your meal you are served a fruit platter but you probably won't have room if you've had a naan bread!

What can I say about this place! The food is gorgeous, the portions are huge and the staff are so unbelievably polite. The venue is 5 out of 5 in every aspect, cleanliness, modernity, spaciousness and location.

The convenience of the location is the best thing with on street parking too. I really love Akbar's and I eat here all the time. The food is such good value for money, I cannot give it any less than 5 out of 5.

This is worth a special visit to Leeds- as a group, as a date, with your family - Akbars is perfect and welcoming and everything you could expect in a top class Indian restaurant!

Just like the bars, this resteraunt lives up to Greek street's reputation. Great indian/enlish food. A very professional environment. Great service. The only part that lets it down, is the food. Very tasty, but is an english variation of the dish, rather than the traditional style.

I tried the chicken korma with naan and rice. Everything was well cooked and the sauce was full of flavour, as was the meat. They obviously pride themselves on Great presentation, both in their food and the resteraunt decore.

There are lots of clubs and bars near by, but you could easily spend a full night in Akbars.....sampling their indian beers and wine selections

This has to be one of the best places to eat in the whole of Leeds.

Firstly its very popular so expect to que on weekends but there is a bar area so you can have drinks while you wait to be seated.

The decoration is lovely with pretty lights everywhere its great for groups aswell as couples. It has a lively atmostphere.

The menu has a large selection of indian dishes. The quality of the food is excellent. I have never had a bad meal. I adore the giant nana breads too for sharing.

The staff are very friendly and it is very reasonabled price. Well worth waiting for a table you wont be disappointed

I have been to this place once so far and I really enjoyed it.

Can't comment on the table wait time as others have as we had booked. All 3 courses were good and well made. The meat in particular was of a good standard, which given some of my experiences in less reputable restaurants.

Location is also good on Greek Street, although you would be best advised to leave the car away from this area. This is firstly due to lack of parking in the vicinity, as well as the fact that especially on a weekend there can be a lot of people out drinking in the nearby bars. It would be a shame for them to "fall" into your car!

All the Akbars restaurants around the Leeds and Bradford area are fantastic, but this is an Indian to beat all Indians. The food is divine, the service is absolute perfection and I love the grandeur of the decor. I could go here every week and not get bored - and I have truly never tasted such delicious rich but subtle dishes. The staff are polite and attentive, well informed about the dishes you order and take pride in their work. To top it off this is outstanding value for money especially for a city centre eatery. And all the little extras such as the fruit plates mark this out.

Akbars is amazing!

Unless you prebook, expect around a 15 minute waiting time but it is well worth it!

Service is speedy, friendly and without a hitch and beware, the staff mean it when they say the naan are big enough to share, they are huge!
I had the meat special balti which was amazing, the lamb was cooked to perfection and very tasty; unusual in a curry in my experience and the fluffy rice was the perfect accompaniment. My other half enjoyed the chicken rogan josh and pronounced it delicious, with a shared naan and a couple of cold tiger beers to wash it down with, we were well fed and watered for under £30 and all within the hour.

Expect to queue for 20 minutes on a weekend, but it's worth it. The food is great.
