Reviews for Leeds Grand Theatre & Opera House
The Grand is a fabulous old building. I've enjoyed many different shows from comedy to plays to panto. They regularly get the newest, up and coming comedians and I have recently seen Lee Evans here. The atmosphere is completely different to newer buildings and it somehow feels more 'special' going to an old theatre.
It doesn't matter where you sit, unless it's restricted viewing, you can always see whoevers on stage. Compare seeing Lee Evans at The Grand to seeing him from the back of Birmingham NEC.
Leg room isn't great even though I was told this would be improved during the refurbishment (and I'm only five feet six). And you can't take drinks from the bar area into the auditorium. Drinks aren't cheap (£2.70 a bottle of lager) but not too expensive.
All in all, a greta night out
A fantastic grand theatre and opera house which has everything going for it. Currently undergoing some serious redevelopment at the moment, it is a grandiose and wonderful night out.
The street it is on can get a bit rough as it is next to all the pizza places and right next door to gatecrasher the night club. Lots of chavs can congregate under the scaffold if it is raining.
The venue is gorgeous the drinks are good prices as are the tickets. They always attract good names, plays, operas and stand up comedians. Well worth a visit, a wonderful night out.
Theres a variety of opera and operetta. Its quite expensive unless your a student as they do 10pound tickets. Its a lovely building as well.
Very nice place recently remodelled. If you have the opportunity to go there to any event take the chance, you will not regret it.
A great theatre in the heart of Leeds, doing what Leeds does best.
It's just reopened after a multi-million pound refurbishment and as yet, I've not see the inside as it now looks.
It used to be crampted, with little leg room for a six-footer like me. But I'm told they've made this much better now and made a lot of improvements to ensure the audience have an enjoyable time.
Good shows on throught the year, well worth a visit.
