The best place to eat in Inverness. I only discovered the Mustard Seed two years ago and I now go every time I am in Inverness. The restaurant is very busy at night time, it is highly recommended that you book well in advance. The building itself is a former church and is well decorated, very modern and clean with efficient lighting (nice enough for a romantic meal but still able to see the person next to you). Reviews for The Mustard Seed Restaurant

There is a balcony with seats overlooking the river Ness; this is lovely in the summer.

The food is always fresh and seems to be fairly local, on my most recent visit (November 08) I had a local sirloin steak with Stornoway black pudding; this was cooked to perfection just as I had asked for (rare). I have tried a lot of different things from the menu and have never been disappointed, they also have a wide selection of main courses from the specials menu, this has been different each time I have eaten there. The vast array of drink options is also impressive; they have a wide selection of wines and bottled real ales from around the local breweries including Cairngorm and The Black Isle Brewery. The dessert menu is similar to the specials; changing each time. On my most recent visit there was a choice of banoffee pie, apple and cinnamon crumble, strawberry cheese cake, profiteroles, ice cream were on offer along with a cheese board and coffee for those without a sweet tooth. It is also very reasonable: three courses with wine and beer throughout came to less than £30 per head. Along with a coupon that is stamped each time you go, this can get you either a bottle of wine or a free lunch, meal depending on when you cash it in. All in all a great experience, highly recommended.

This is a favourite with the locals. It's a beautiful building on the banks of the River Ness and the interior is just as pleasing. The Mustard Seed is modern, warm and welcoming. On entering you are met by friendly staff who are attentive throughout your meal. The restaurant is on two levels and I have been happy with either floor. Having said that, there is a wee dining area off the main entrance to the right and it does seem to be a bit out of the way, but I have never sat in there so can't really comment. The food is FANTASTIC. There is a special lunch and early evening menu which is great value for money. I think it's 2 courses and a drink. The desserts are out of this world.

The Mustard Seed is a fantastic place to go, it is really welcoming, with appealing menus and a very high standard of food on offer. The service is excellent, the premises immaculate and it is really well presented and stylish throughout. It is situated in a nice and quiet location, and you can eat from the terrace in the fine weather and get some great views while you dine. They do some excellent value price offers, for example early evening dining. This is a really upmarket eaterie but without the high prices you’d expect. If you are on a visit to Inverness a visit here is a must.
