We have been regulars at Gringos for the past 8yrs and always have an wonderful time - can not believe VIKING and SPARECAT01 have left such bad comms! but one was three yrs ago!! Reviews for Gringo's

We have been regulars at Gringos for the past 8yrs and always have an wonderful time - can not believe VIKING and SPARECAT01 have left such bad comms! but one was three yrs ago!! I visited GRINGOS on weds with a friend and phoned before arriving as we required two high chairs (in some places you are lucky to find one!!). Met in the bar area and were greeted straight away and asked if we would like to be seated (we already saw the table had been set for us complete with highchairs) decided to have a drink in the bar seating area and were given menus for our perusal.

Chilli beef nachos to start which went down amazingly for us all one 33yrs one 32yrs one 3yrs one 7mnths just watch out for the chillis with the little ones.

Mains were 1 Chicken Fajhita and a prawn burrito for the adults - could not finish my fajhita as so stuffed from starters but my friend tried her best and did finish hers!! Kids shared chicken nuggets and wedges which I am very pleased to say the chicken nuggets are not the norm deep fried but home made and tasted gorg!!

Keep up the good work gringos we will be back next week.

Went there 2 days ago with a few friends, enjoyed the meal so much I'm going back tonight with my partner. I had a sizzling platter with beef, chicken and vegetables in a delicious spicy/ sweet sauce which came with a huge pile of tortillas.
The service was good. Our waiter was very helpful, arranging a dish not on the menu for one of our party with special dietary needs.
And at £11 for 2 (2-4-1 early bird) I consider it great value for money.

Interesting to see Sparecat01's review. We visited Gringos about 3 years ago and had a similar experience. Obviously it's not improved! The dish I had, I could have made at home - only better! The place was noisy, service slapdash, food ordinary. Our thoughts after the meal were that the very youthful crowd who were there were actually used to fast food and their palates were not very developed; so they thought Gringos was an "up market", "good food" place to be. Personally, we resolved never to go there again, and, judging by Sparecat01's comments, we were obviously right to assume it would not get better!

Awful. We were a party of 7, mainly meat eaters and two veggies. The food I ordered seemed to be a dish of cheese, supposed to be goats cheese with some sort of supermarket cheddar on top... My friends said that their meat dishes were bland and cold. All the food seemed like it had been cooked badly the day before and heated up in the microwave. The service was amateur and inattentive, we had to wait ages for drinks. Decor and facilities were trampy and the two toilets smelled. The menu was overpriced and not at all value for money. This restaurant claims to be family friendly, however my 10 year old sister was ignored when she tried to order and the loud disco music made conversation practically impossible. I don't know if I can give this place 0 stars but if this doesn't appear please appreciate that I did try to warn you!

Certainly the funkiest restaurant in town. Good quality food, reasonably priced and served with some panache. Mostly Mexican, but with far eastern flavours thrown in. The tables are a bit tightly squeezed, but there's a real hive atmosphere at weekends. Decent early bird deals to boot.
