Reviews for Redcoats Farmhouse Hotel
Redcoats is a fantastic restaurant set in the countryside just past St Ippolyttes. It is an old farm house which has been turned into a thriving restaurant. You definately need to book your table in advance. There is plenty of park in front and behind the restaurant. They have a waiting area in what I assume was the lounge, and then a wonderful old bar area - Very well stocked. Once you get seated, if you are lucky its in one of the farm houses old rooms, or it might bein the purpose built conservatory. The food is amazing and the menu if anything but ordinary, though it is a bit exensive (be warned) You are definatley paying for the experience, the ood, the atmosphere and the service. They also have rooms that you can spend the night in which is handy for Xmas parties etc... Again you need to book these in advance. Very nice place to take a partner for a romantic meal. But go suited and booted - Not a trainers and jeans pie shop.
It's always best to make a reservation as most Sundays they're generally packed.
The atmosphere in this 14th century farmhouse is really relaxed and friendly - just what you would expect from a family-run business.
Sunday lunch is a treat - with Roast Sirloin of Scottish Beef (medium-rare) the highlight! I also saw some gorgeous Fruits de Mer platters of Lobster, Crab, Mussels, Cockles, Oysters, Prawns and Razor Clams being served and wolfed down!
The desserts - my Jameson’s Crème Brûlée was delightful and the Surprise Platter of Little Puddings was enough for two.
Put together the ambience, location & service with the food and you've got a great place for Sunday lunch.
