I was a little hesitant visiting this restuarant, this was purely based on the name. I don;t like mushrooms!

I'm glad i went though, the experience was amazing.

We sat in the conservatory and had a little drinkie first, then sat at our table for the meal.

Staff here are suprisingly helpful and friendly! Our waiter was perfect - he gave me some good advice about what to choose, and her was absolutely spot on!

Apparently its all local produce. Whether it is or not i can't say. But i can confirm the food was delicious and i will certainly be going back again!

I couldn't fault it in any way at all

I can agree wholeheartedly with the review from "henders", best restaurant for miles, staff excellent, food always good. Love the way you go and sit in the conservatory first for aperitifs! I prefer to save this for high days and holidays alrthough with set lunch i think it's amazing value (considering what you can pay for brake brothers in some places)! enjoy

Was taken here as a surprise when staying with friends.
Immediately, the (I hesitate to say) old fashioned personal greeting enchanted me. There was nothing old fashioned about it, but is so lacking in many/most restaurants.
Fantastic menu, extremely reasonable £22 (ish) lunchtime 3 courses.
Staff lovely, friendly and knowledgeable.
Beautiful tables, pristine settings, lovely little 'mushroom' touches dotted around without overdoing it.
The food was fantastic - not titchy portions that I was expecting but everything - meat & veg - beautifully cooked.
Have very fussy partner and even he was hugely impressed.
Local produce (I know everywhere says that now, but this really was) even local wine.
Can't fault anything - just a sham it's 130 + miles away otherwise I'd be there every week.
