Reviews for Loch Fyne Restaurants

I visited this restaurant a couple of times when it first opened and came to the conclusion it was best avoided. The passing of time has not changed my opinion that it is overpriced, poor quality fodder. The quality of the cooking is so poor that one could not tell if the raw material was of a good or bad specification.Definitel one to miss

After a unexpected welcome blip in Cobham, Loch Fyne reverted to type and provided the sort of food and service that I sadly come to expect from a mediocre food chain.

That we ate on a busy Saturday night is no excuse - after all isn't that the true test of a restaurant - being that popular that they have to deliver the goods to hordes of expectant diners?

Where do I start...well probably being served less than chilled good wine with 4 glasses that had just come out of the dishwasher and would have been better employed as hand warmers !! Then we tried to order starters to find that 2 dishes were sold out. Then after ordering, we were told 5 minutes later that what we had ordered had sold out in the meantime and would we mind ordering our starters again.

When the starters from the substitutes bench finally made it onto the pitch they were passable at best, parsimonious in content and obviously rushed.

Main courses arrived and we were then totally convinced that rationing had been surreptitiously introduced when we were otherwise engaged. The smallest piece of salmon that they could muster filled a 10th of the dish and that is when we realised why they were pushing side dishes so hard. One of my colleagues ordered chips and asked what oil they were cooked in as she was a vegetarian and the Yorkshire way is usually in beef dripping. They brought the chips first then had to return to the pass twice to ask what they were cooked in.

Suffice to say we declined desserts and £25 each later threw ourselves out into the lashing rain which actually felt better than what we had just experienced.

Avoid this Loch Fyne if you want value for money, good food and a kitchen that actually has a commitment to quality...
