Reviews for The Old Cathay
As chinese buffet's go, I am usually quick picky. I have learnt a lot about health and hygeine throughout the years and am always conscious about under cooked foods and I know sometimes buffets can be notorious for this. A friend of mine invited me for lunch today and we decided to go to The Old Cathay Chinese restaurant, The Stow for the chinese buffet. My first impression was small, but beautifully decorated: luxurious deep red table cloths. The tables were not too close together and whilst it was busy, there was no queue for the buffet and it was not cramped or crowded, nor too noisy for about 1-2pm. There was a good selection of dishes, perhaps maybe 30 or so, but it's only downfall was there was no duck. There was also no labelling on the foods, so whilst I have been eating chinese for years and pretty much know all the dishes and have no allergies to food, someone with a food allergy and new to chinese food may struggle. The price seemed very reasonable. About £15 for two people with two soft drinks. The staff were polite and checked regularly if everything was ok and if they could get us anything more, any drinks etc.
