Reviews for The Weyside
We visited as a group of 6 on a hot June evening. The bar/food ordering area was very busy but the staff were very efficient, polite and quick. The food came exceptionally quickly and was greatly enjoyed by all. The manager himself was very attentive, interested in our views and clearly enjoying himself.
More a restaurant than a pub, but if you want to avoid the REAL bustle of Guildford, this place is too far for the riff-raff to walk!
Highly recommended.
It was a glorious early summer evening and we thought we'd hit on a real find; until we went inside and attempted to order drinks and food. On a relatively quiet mid week evening, we stood by the bar for 40 minutes before being served. Eventually a surly student did take our order, but friends just behind us were refused food; they were told the kitchen was closed - at 8.30pm! It is eye-wateringly expensive and the food was very ordinary. The staff really don't seem to care, as they know the location will attract enough customers to keep them going. Avoid like the plague!
I'd give a five star rating for ambience on a Summer day when you can sit outside by the river (if you can get a seat that is, it gets PACKED).
Have to agree with the comments on the staff and the prices, this place is verrrryyyyyy expensive, probably one of the more expensive in Guildford, which is itself more costly than many other places.
Used to be a much better pub when it was The Jolly Farmer and not this attempt at a gastro thingy job.The location as Aleman has said is the best in Guilford for a pub but here lies the problem Spirit Group owned by the rip off pub company Punch this is what you get from these pub co's.
Sorry to say but because of them hundreds more pubs will close this year on top on the 27 a week last year rant over.
This place is far to expensive and service poor, other than that it's great!
But thats about it, too expensive, staff appear unhelpful. (Obviously these things can change!)
Not sure I want to give a review of the Weyside as I am trying to keep the numbers down (especially during the summer months)!
Great pub, in a great location with pretty nice food (not as good as they think it is though). On a summers evening you can enjoy a well kept pint of Old Speckle Hen (or some larger if you prefer) on the decking by the river Wey, as the sunsets over the trees. Truly blissful!
The minor downsides are a) the restaurant (very stylish however the food is cooked in an open kitchen, so if you can survive the fog, you will always come out smelling of chips!) and the staff. On the staff, it is really mixed between some very lovely people but a fair few student types who think the punter gives a f___ about their cheerless self focused nature.
Don't let that put you off it is a great place to visit and enjoy the atmosphere.
Tourists, overpriced to a stupid level. Luckily the map indicater on this site is some 'Wey' out and I don't feel to inclined to advise !
