Reviews for Nankusa
Visited early evening, around 6pm on a weekday. Very quiet, just a few others there whilst we dined. Lovely building, and interior space, a smaller bar/entry spcae opens into a large-ish vaulted dining area. Staff were very polite and very attentive. We had starters and mains, a selection of sashimi, tempura, gyoza, and noodle courses for our mains. The food was ok, sometimes good. The sashimi was very disappointing, i have this whenever availble at japanese restaurants and here the assortment and portion was far too meagre compared to what other restaurants give. The tempura was good, a little too greasy, but ok, the noodles were cooked perfectly and the veg etc also cooked perfectly, though the sauce was rather flat and reliant on salt for its flavour, lacking depth. Drinks were chilled and perfect though. Although plum wine, the lady's favourite seemed only available by the bottle not glass :-( Overrall a 7/10. Surroundings and staff great, but food a bit lacking, marginally better than some japanese places, but nowhere near as good as i know japanese food can be. Also too many dishes on the menu, they would be far better doing less better than more and compromising on quality. Lastly the toilets, only the ladies' visited, and apparently were shabby and no toilet paper at all!
