Reviews for Oko Express
I was looking for a meal that wasn't Italian or cheap pub food in Glasgow and spotted this restaurant. It's immediately inviting from the outside with large floor to ceiling windows and the Manga placemats grabbed me straight away.
The service was good...the food just as good (I had teryaki chicken and my brother had sushimi)and it didn't feel like the big chains that are cropping up everywhere. If love Japanese food this is the place to go.
It doesn't have a drinks license though but you can take your own
Japanese can be a hard cuisine to pull off. Firstly it has to be fresh. Secondly it has to taste better than the pre-packed sushi you can buy in Boots, and thirdly the ambience is crucial.
Oko Express on Queen Street in the heart of Glasgow ticks all the boxes. It's canteen style set-up, fresh ingredients and traditional presentation is truly something, and it's reasonably priced too. The chicken tempura is particularly something amazing, but needs two people as it's pretty big! Give the chopsticks a go, and get chomping at Oko Express.
