  An excellent day out

  I've taken my niece and nephew to the Transport Museum many times. Being just across from the Kelvingrove Museum it makes an excellent second part to a day out. As well as the usual things you would expect to see at a transport museum (Trains, Cars and Bikes in all shapes and sizes) they have a great little recreation of an old Glasgow street complete with an Underground station, shops, and even a tiny cinema.
  
  The cinema sometimes shows old clips from Glasgow past (as it was probably designed to) but quite often when you go in they’re showing things for kids like Tom and Gerry cartoons and even more modern shows (wonder if they’ve got a licence!).
  
  In a few years they’ll be moving the Museum to a purpose built location on the river. I’m sure it will be much bigger and better but it’ll be a great loss to its current convenient West-End location.

  Brilliant day out!

  What an amazing day out this was!! the museum was fantastic it had loads of old buses, trams, cars, bikes, prams - even a train! you name it, it had every mode of transport you could think of!
  
  The most amazing thing about the place is it is totally free! For this calibre of museum I would expect to pay £6+ per adult, but nope completely free!
  
  We went on a weekday, it was relatively quiet but did have a few large school parties who did no harm at all!
  
  It also has a 'mock' old street with shop windows so its like stepping baack to the 1950's which is really really good! We spent about 4 hours in there, there is also a cafe which looked quite good, but we had already eaten.
  
  ALSO - has a replica of Mr Weasley's Ford Anglia from Harry Potter which is super!!
  
  I'm not that into 'transport' but this museum just made it accessible for me and the people with me. Kids and grown ups would love it! Fabulous day out!

  Great for kids

  Current

  This is a fantastic place to take your children on a rainy day out! Before i moved here, we lived in a town where there was nothing at all to do. The move to Glasgow opened up a new life for us and has actually improved our relationship! Part of that is due to this museum, so thank you! There is so much to do here, you will find your self coming back time and time again. My son loves the models upstairs and the search for the balamory vehicles too. Staff here are also helpful, friendly and actually happy! Always willing to point out new things and provide explanation about points you may not know. I can't rate it highly enough!

  Heaven for transport lovers!

  My son absolutely loves this place! We have been here more times than I can count and he never seems to tire of it. There is so much to do and see. From the horse drawn carriages, trams, old Glasgow busses and vintage cars to bicycles, motorbikes and the model ships area upstairs (the only part which doesn't seem to interest my son for some reason). You can also go around and try to spot all the Balamory vehicles which is a favourite! There is a cafe upstairs plus a cobbled model street which we also like to take a walk in. On the weekends they show short films and cartoons in the cinema.

  great day out for young and older!

  This an absolutely fascinating place! For the youngsters..it's great...it's educational, fun and hands on too! not one of those places where you are terrified that they will touch something! They can climb in trams and buses etc to their hearts delight! Take the grandparents and you get the memories and history too! It's an amazing place that you can spend all day in and not get bored! The cafe is cheap and cheerful but the bonus is that there is no entry fee to this place! Close to public transport connections as well! So all in all a great, cheap day out for young and old alike!
  And the art gallery is just across the road too!

  Good Day Out

  A fantastic place for anyone - boys or girls of all ages - with an interest in cars, motorbikes, trams, trains, everything! Having first been taken to the transport museum by my father when I was about yon tall, the smell of oil and machinery still sticks to the mind. It's so fantastic to see so many relics of the past, than even those who weren't around in the days of steam engines could get nostalgic about it.
  
  One could spend the entire day in the transport museum and then have a nice wee walk in the park across the road and even have a look into the kelvin grove art museum! Highly recommended!

  One could spend the entire day in the transport museum and still not see everything. It's a fantastic experience and makes one yearn for the days of glasgow trams once again. Certainly a great fun experience for all the family. Highly recommended!

  Located on Burnhouse road this museum is the stuff of dreams for boys young and old. I can still clearly remember going there often as a child with my family and loving every minute of it. Cars, Trains, Buses it has everything that excites the imagination of young kids. Thats not to say it cannot be appreciated by the older generation, anyone with an enthusian for transport will find a lot to take in and enjoy on a trip here. A unique place to come to one day, well worth a trip. It it also very close to other famous Glasgow galleries making it even more appealing.

  Boys' toys

  Current

  A quality museum for boys. Of all ages. Crammed full with ancient motorcycles, buses, cars, trams, trains, model ships. You name it, it's here.
