Reviews for The Brooklyn Cafe
i have to say i have found this cafe to be a absolute gem! the food is really good, perfect for a quick bite or a evening meal. There is a great selection of pizza and pasta dishes and also a good selection of panni type sandwiches.

The cafe itself has a cosy friendly imformal atmosphere and i have found the staff to be very freindly and helpful always willing to go out their way to provide a really good service.
In all id say that this cafe is well worth a visit, its become a regular haunt for me and id advise it to anybody!
Although this place has been there for many years, i have to say that after going in, in november the service was diabolical, our drinks where brought before the meal, which took 35mins to arrive, and did'nt seem upto much, our drinks where cold by this time. On a return visit by my family members in the wk between xmas+new year things seem to have got worse, the staff where openly rude, including the manager for that day. If i had been with them on this occasion i would have left immediatly. So on that note i would say you can guarentee that none of us will be returning to this eatablishment.
with the other review. This place has been in Shawland in ages but I stupidly never tried it. Boy was that a mistake. It does hot food like pannini type things and other savouries which are actually okay but really you want to be in for the dessert - ice cream. You have have it straight up and simple. You can have it in a wafer. You can have it as a sundae. You can have it with chocolate fudge cake. And yes I have tried it almost anyway possible. I will often take a tub home with me too. It is so much better than anything you will get in the supermarket - rich and creamy. The price is reasonable - you would rather take this home than Hagen Dazs - seriously. Try it and see if you agree. Like I said, the savoury is average. The place gets its status from the ice cream.
Brooklyn Cafe has been a feature in Shawlands for decades, there are some old photographs showing the Brooklyn in byegone years. My only complaint is the coffee is super heated, beware. The cafe has undergone a transformation in recent years and the decor is mostly wood (I think pine). Seating upstairs is a little too close together. The toilets are upstairs as well, I think there is disabled toilets downstairs. You can sit-in or there is a take-away section which is extremely popular with the school children from Shawlands Academy. So lunchtimes can be manic. The menu has an Italian feel with pizza and pastas available, as well as breakfasts. Price wise it is quite good, there are sometimes specials on. Staff are friendly and a couple have what sounds like Italian accents.
