The Jack In The Green near Exeter needs little or no introduction to those in the know. Numerous accolades from independent critics as one of Exeter's best fine dining restaurants, underpinned by two AA rosettes and praise from Michelin and the Good Food Guide, is testament to the passion and skill that emanates from the kitchen of this top Exeter restaurant and Head Chef, Matt Mason.

Reviews for The Jack In The Green Inn

Excellent food both lunchtime and evening in this historic pub with a modern dining room extension. The Jack in the Green is 5 minutes drive from Exeter Airport and easy to find, with ample parking at the rear. If you are looking for a romantic or cosy evening meal, then I suggest asking to be seated in the older part of the pub, rather than the modern dining room which lacks the character of the original pub. Either way, the food will be top quality and well presented. The chef aims to source food locally wherever possible. Real ales are available, along with some comfy sofas in the bar.

I discovered this place quite by accident when trying to find a suitable place for lunch on a drive down to Cornwall about six or seven years ago. What a gem! Since then I have used it each time I've gone down to the West Country.

This has to be one of the best gastropubs in the country with quite a good wine list. Since I have started using it, it has won many awards including a Michelin Bib Gourmand, so I obviously am not alone in raving about this place.....
