Reviews for Al Farid Restaurant

Went for a meal here with some workmates - sat upstairs in the restaurant bit and LOVED it. We got everything we ordered, freshly cooked and so much of it.. and the staff were friendly and helpful. And I was driving so stayed sober and checked the bill, and it was fine!! No it isn't the cheapest place but its worth every penny cos the food is so good. The whole atmosphere of the place is exotic and takes you away somewhere warm and wonderful.

Al Farid is a great place for a whole range of occasions. Have a Shisha (fruit tobacco bubbled through a hookah) on the balcony with some Morrocan tea or coffee with friends, have a romantic meal just for two in the atmospheric upstairs dinning area, discussing business over dinner with a co-worker or potential investor, or maybe a huge group pre-going out meal in the less formal downstairs area with comfy cushions and lovely decorration.
They have mezze (similar to tapas), delicious main meals (try the tangines or the honeyed chicken dish, delicious) and the higly reccomended Morrocan pastries and desserts for afters.
If you have a group of more than four the £17.50 or £15.00 mezze all-you-can-eat deals are fantastic, believe me you will come away feeling full and your tastebuds satisfied.
On the whole the staff are friendly, the atmosphere fantastic, the food is spectacular for the price and the guava juice and "almazza" lebanese beer a treat. Especially great for big parties or romantic dinners. Reccomended a try at least once.

Clearly this reviewer has self interest it reads just like a advertorial in the local paper - all I can reiterate is watch em like hawks - they will charge for dishes not received (or ordered) and the beer is vastly over priced

"Pasty_muncher" I found your review too subjective and narrowminded, I believed a more objectively written review would be more helpful to those wishing for a more balanced review. Yes I am being biasedly supportive of this restaurant but not for the reasons you snidely inferenced, I personally really enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere at Al Farid. I have eaten at many Exeter restaurants and I am happy to be critical. Next time please try not to lash out at people who's experiences conflict with your own, sharing my good experience is just as important as you sharing your unfortunately bad one.

Downstairs is fun and a selection of buffet items can be enjoyed with very expensive authentic morrocan beer. Give the A la carte upstairs a miss - muddled orders, charging for items not served and chaos all round - far too cramped and hot.
