Reviews for Exeter Picturehouse

you can have a brilliant night out at the picturehouse - as well as seeing a film in comfortable surroundings there's a very impressive bar and a good tuck shop to buy some munchies for eating when the film is on and you can even take drinks from the bar with you to watch the film. it doesn't always have all the latest blockbusters but to more than make up for that it does show films that are not shown at vue and odeon so if you fancy something a bit different and alternative give it a go and they also have extra stuff going on like live music and there's a saturday kids club which is very good value - if it's your thing become a member to get some extras and money off

Exeter Picturehouse is part of an independent chain of cinemas across the country and they are the very best cinemas that the country has to offer.

Specialising in foreign language and art house films, they also offer Hollywood blockbusters too. Small, comfortable, great food and friendly staff that actually love film make the Exeter Picturehouse really special.

The bar and restaurant upstairs are a great place to hang out, enjoy a coffee, play board games or enjoy the free wifi available (and they do an excellent mulled wine when it gets cold!).

The cinema itself has two screens - both of which are big enough to deliver the big screen, big sound cinema experience but small enough to be intimate and cosy. Seriously big and comfy seats with loads and loads of legroom help too!

In addition to films, the Picturehouse also shows regular live events which in the past has included live opera from venues around the world and also the brilliant Amnesty International Secret Policeman's Ball.

If you think you may be a regular, you should check out the Membership scheme - which for a very modest layout, gives you free tickets, free previews and discounts. It saved me a small fortune!

All in all, this is an excellent cinema and part of an excellent chain - the big boys should look at cinemas like this because they could learn a thing or two!

Great cinema showing a great mix of mainstream blockbusters, arthouse and foreign films. So even if you dont know whats on you should be able to easily find something you like the look of.

Picture quality cannot compare to the more recent cinemas of Exeter, such as Vue, and the sound can be terrible, but it has an atmosphere all the other big players lack.

Great selection of slightly overpriced snacks and drinks, but you can get a beer at the upstairs bar, and take it into the screen if you wish!

Prices for the films are a bit expensive, but go on a Orange Wednesday for 2for1 and everyone is happy!
