Reviews for Boston Tea Party
Get something warm and tasty off the drinks menu and take it upstairs for a post-shopping breather on one of the sofas. The white hot chocolate will warm your cockles especially with one of the flapjack type slices form the cakes cabinet. There's a chilled atmosphere and you can just sit and listen to the student chat filling the air, read a paper or play one of the games littered around the room. A decent coffee stop for a rainy day breather.
Word of warning the sandwiches are heavily overpriced, overchilled and flavourless. Not worth the £4. If you want a lunch, go elsewhere.
The Boston Tea Party is situated just down the road from Exeter Central train station and so is in an ideal location if you want to kill some time before a train. It is situated over two floors. Downstairs there are a few tables and the bar where you buy your drinks and food. There are also one or two tables outside. Upstairs is a massive open plan high-ceilinged room full of tables and chairs of all sorts, including quite a few comfortable sofas and armchairs.
The food is delicious. Mainly snack food but it is interesting and well prepared with good ingredients. They do a fantastic assortment of coffees and teas and hot chocolate. they also do great fresh fruit drinks. It is a really great place to unwind with a drink and a paper.
Im not a big enthusiast of coffee places, but Bostons is a nice place to put your feet-up in town. Downstairs is your typical busy and noisy coffee bar atmosphere, with the sound of enthusiastic chatter and steam machines in the kitchen. Up the stairs is a big room with lovely relaxed atmosphere, mostly thanks to its classic décor and about a million sofas! Power plugs also available up here too for all you students or showy writer types...
Good selection of snacks, hot and cold drinks. All priced how you expect, ie expensive! I recommend the Hot Choc, very yummy!
