This is a fantastic quaint traditional Devon tea room and has one 'Best tea room in Devon' awards for a number of years and you can find out why when you sample some of their delicious food.

The owners have lived in Topsham all their life and take a great pride in offering the best quality locally produced food. There are fresh flowers in the entrance and on each of the tables. The tables have crisp cotton embroidered cloths which the landlady personally washes and irons. A great selection of teas including Gunpowder green tea which I highly recommend and a Georgian Rose tea especially produced for the tea room.

If you are there early enough you can sample one of the full English breakfasts, superb quality and taste. You could not cook it better yourself.

The landlady personally bakes the scones daily herself. Plus there is a phenomenal display of tea pots, many of which customers have given to the landlady.

There is a car park at the rear although it can be a challenge to park so you are better off using the nearby pay and display car park.

You just have to go!

Definitely the place to go with an empty stomach for a decadent afternoon tea. Served on individual three tier plates. Freshly cooked scones with lashings of jam and cream. Gorgeous fresh crammed full sandwiches. Choice of cake and a good slice at that. It is a hotel as well and also serves coffees and lunches. They are shut on Sundays and don't do evening meals. The food is all fresh and quite well priced for the portions. Very busy especially popular with the locals and elderly for lunches. It is possible to reserve a table. In the summer it is possible to eat out in the side garden - poor plastic tables and chairs. The staff are reasonably friendly the service is quite slow when busy. Not very suitable for taking young ones as the actual tearoom is quite tightly packed with tables. Go for the afternoon tea you won't regret it !!
