This is a lovely old coaching inn with lots of character. It's well frequented by the locals which is always a good sign. Friendly atmosphere combined with good level of service. They serve a good range of beers and wines and a delicious suffolk cider - Aspleys. I had two excellent fish meals, freshly prepared and far too much! I was working in Exeter and staying in Topsham and am reluctant to go out alone in the evenings however, I felt very comfortable going along here with a book for company!

I took my family here for a drink in August and we enjoyed sitting in the beer garden and watching the boats sail by. Topsham is a really pleasant place to stroll and then stop for a drink and meal.

Highly recommended.

This is a quaint small restaurant pub. They serve really good fish meals and very fresh too. The fishcakes are HUGE and all homemade. the portions are huge as well, but the price is steep too. The desserts are alright but very expensive for what you get. The place is extremely popular and busy, and it is possible that quite often some of the menu is not available if you go too late.There is often quite a long wait for the food to arrive as well. The restaurant inside is small and cozy. the bar area is very small. Outside across the road ( which is quiet and narrow) is a beer type garden nice benching seats and great views right by the estuary to watch the boats go by. In the summer evenings there is a good atmosphere and patio heaters to keep you warm. The bar staff are not particularly friendly and sometimes it takes ages to order either a drink or the food. This is not a place suitable for taking little ones never seen any highchairs and no childrens meals to choose from only smaller portions of fancy foods.
