    dissapointing

I've always used the edinburgh co-op in the past but have been badly dissapointed with my recent purchase of a courier race disk. While the bike is great value the service has been poor. After the 6 week service the bolts attatching the spider to the front crank were only hand tightened and although it had been under lock and key since purchase they refused to take any responsibility and maintained I must have loosened them as they wouldn't have left them loose. Mistakes happen but the refusal to admit them is grating. Also poor advice on accessories. Still good value bikes but not as good service as in previous years.

Hyper and efficient rather than friendly
    Current
I want to like the Edinburgh Bike Co-op even more than four stars as its a co-op who make their own bikes but the shop, though the service is good, is a bit too serious for my liking. They are all SERIOUSLY into bikes rather than just being friendly and more personable. Having said that there is a good range of bikes though don't expect too much in the budget range and ofcourse they do go up to the very high end in mountain bikes. There is also a good selection of accessories, clothing and parts. I recently bought a new Ridgeback bike through them online for a 10% discount and they dealt with its 30 day service efficiently.

    Friendly Service

Was mobbed this weekend due to a sale but generally its quiet enough to browse through the large stock without space problems.
I bought my bike there a few months ago. The staff were very knowledgeable and came across as being very friendly and helpful.
There are a large variety of bikes for kids and adults, mountain bikes, hybrids and road bikes are all set out ready for you to sit on and try out. I believe it is also possible to try the more fancy mountain bikes out over a weekend (subject to a deposit).
I will certainly be going back as the service was excellent.
