Reviews for Restaurant Martin Wishart

The best dining experience I have ever had. It's far from cheap, but for effortless service and beautiful food, this is a winner.

I really enjoyed my visit to restaurant Martin Wishart. I went there with my girlfriend and she was was impressed too! The atmosphere is quiet, but that also means its a romantic and intimate place to go with the one you love! The staff here are really friendly too and go out of their way to make you relaxed. There is a good choice of food, and it will appeal to all tastes. The food we chose was absolutely delicious, a huge mountain of food cooked perfectly! It not the cheapest place to eat in the area, but one of the best! Its well worth it!

I have eaten here on several occasions and cannot recommend it highly enough. The tasting menu delights with a seemingly never ending stream of dishes and I particuarly enjoyed pairing teh food with the wine tasting menu - although it does equate to rather a lot of alcohol.

There is a good choice on the a la carte menu and vegetarians are well provided for, somewhat unusual in such a high class restaurant.

Front of house staff were warm and friendly, although the atmosphere was very quiet, it was peaceful as opposed to suppressed.

I can't wait to go again.

it is fair to say my meal at martin wisharts was the best ive ever had. when i first got presented with the canapes, i had a feeling i may leave feeling hungry but 7 courses down the line i felt truly satisfied.

i went for the vegetarian taster menu and was wary as i can be a fussy eater, but anything i would of previously not eaten was cooked in such a way it was wonderful, i was even tempted by some of the fish dishes. we also went for the cheese plate which is good for 4 and has any cheese you could ever want.

overall it was a great evening spending over 5 hours there, in no way due to slow service.

Martin should maybe just change one thing slightly and you'll be relieved to know it's not in the kitchen !! He should tell "front of house" to metaphorically undo their top buttons. The epitome of politeness - they tend towards a stiffness that slightly unsettles you when you arrive and during your stay - a little too fussy and prescriptive, no room for extemporisation...

Thankfully the food causes you to overlook these small gliches and concentrate on the wonderful modern (with a glance over the shoulder) French flavours. Maybe too much reliance on puree would be an observation but you couldn't fault the delicacy of the cooking at the pure lines that came out onto the palate whether it be the smokey haddock or the chilled sweetcorn soup given to me in a shot glass - gratis ! The Risotto was wonderfully creamy without being cloying.

It's not as light on your pocket as your palate but for a real treat when you're up during The Festival you can't go far wrong...
