  One of the best arthouse cinemas in the UK

  The Filmhouse is a gem make no mistake about it - certainly one of the best independent cinemas in the UK even more so if you're outside London. The focus of the Edinburgh Film Festival it also throughout the year benefits from an outstanding programme of independent world cinema with imaginative themes and programming, after screening discussions, mini festivals of film, and it also has a comfortable bar with an outstanding selection of quality beers as well as draught real ales and a good selection of reasonably priced food with quite a few vegetarian options.

  A great little art House cinema.
  
  From front of building you wouldnt think this was a cinema, but once inside your find a great little cafe/bar + three screens showing all manner of films from blockbusters to low budget horrors in every format known (vhs-dlp)
  
  In addtion to films they have special guests like directors/cast etc and have festivals such as the annual Dead By Dawn Horror fest in April
  
  Its advisable to book in advance or at least turn up a bit early as showings do sell out on a regular basis
  
  All screens feature stadium seating and are comfortable but could do with a little more leg room (as most could), but overall a fantastic place to see a film

  If you prefer independent, or foreign films to the latest blockbuster then this is the place for you! Inside is like what I consider to be the classic old style cinema. They have limited screens, and the screen rooms are not that big, but depending on the films on show they will be sold out! They also have a good cafe, with reasonable priced food.
