Reviews for Favorit

I have just moved next to Favorit and I must say that this place is really good for just about anything be it food, service or cleanness.

As the other reviews stated it has apparently been refurbished and under new management - I never used to go there which is a shame- the inside is nice and cosy and you can have a nice relaxed meal without any bother.

Every time I have been there so far, I have enjoyed the awesome food and had many laughs with the staff. When there’s nice weather outside they usually put tables and chairs outside so you can also enjoy a nice cold beer if you want.

I would also recommended Favorit for anyone wanting to enjoy a nice meal.

Oh and im a student in my last year and I can afford the food there so im pretty sure that if I can afford it so can anyone else :)

I used to come here years ago and just the other day me and some friends decided to go out for a casual meal and drink, so I threw the idea of going to Favorit.

After we arrived I noticed straight away that they had done some refurbishment to the place with new chairs, tables, lights etc and it just looks so much better than it did before, gives it more of a friendly, comfortable vibe. I asked the staff about the change and seems like there is new management! So far so good!

Anyway we ordered some food and drink, the service was quick and the food was really nice, it hit the spot perfectly for me, very tasty.

We even had a good laugh with the staff there, they are really friendly.

I really would recommend this place to anyone, whether it be with a large or small group (even for couples). I will be going back there again!

Favorit is another one of those places you go because it looks so lovely. It's an old style diner with booths and black and white tiles where you can just sit for hours. One idiosyncratic thing about it that I love is how it's always quite dark inside. I hate really bright, harsh places so sneaking into a booth with my back to the window and snaffling a ben and jerrys milk shake is a great pleasure. The menu is a bit limited, but what is does have is good, I love the goats cheese and sweet chilli thing most of all and the ice cream milkshake I mentioned earlier is a fatty dream of loveliness.

The service is a bit rubbish, but at the same time, I prefer it to forced cheerfulness and over-friendliness, but if you need someone to be happy and friendly when they serve you, don't visit Favorit. They don't make a fuss if you sit there nursing a tea for 5 hours though and if you're really desperate, you can just go up to the counter and order there.

It can get absolutely packed in the evening and don't even *think* about it during festival time, but a diner open till 3am is going to be a big popular draw, specially as it's so close to all the university buildings.

Times have changed at the teviot branch as it has been taken over by new management. Still serving until 3am on fridays and saturdays, the cafe is still serving good food and great beers. It looks a lot fresher since thay've started revamping as well. Add to that a good vibe and friendly staff and its hard to beat for good times.
nice to be back at one of my "favorit" places.

This is the worst cafe I have ever been to in the ten years of living in Edinburgh.

They served my husband a beer that made him sick, the food they served was cold and over priced and the service is the worst I have ever seen.

In a city with lovely cafes and great service it is a shame this place is allowed to exist.

Nice food, and great that they serve food til 3am!Love french toast with bacon and syrup for breakfast.
However, every time i've been there, staff have been slow, surly and unhelpful
