Reviews for The Black Rose Tavern

What a fantastic place. My home away from home. Or it is now. A great pub, with fantastic staff, good beers, great music plus open mic and rock karaoke. No trouble, no fights. In fact, when a glass was broken by accident, it was cleared up in seconds and everyone was so polite.

I also pulled in there on my first night. Love it.

i wouldn't know what on earth it was like. i usually go to opium but was recommended this pub from a friend. went for a few drinks to jekyll & hyde...sauntered along and then got a rude reception from the bouncer on the door. "full" he grunted. then as 12 or so people left, still said "full". oh well... maybe another time eh.

loved it so cool, the open mic the atmosphere the decor, cool!

This is a very friendly and relaxing bar. Play great rock music and has a great juke box. The food is quite good there too. The prices are around average for Edinburgh, but it is one of the most relaxed pubs to go. The staff are always polite and friendly, and you are served quickly whether you are just there for a drink or there for food. They have free wifi too, which is always an advantage for some people. If you like Rock Bars this is one of the best in Edinburgh. I have never seen any bother kick off in there.

The black rose has what the edinburugh rock scene has been missing for a very long time!!!

It has the atmosphere that most of thet other rock bars only wish to obtain. Everyone is always happy to see you and the place is buzzy, even go in a little earlier to have a quiet one your self with free wi fi its ideal to whitle some time away whilst waitng for people.

The drinks are the fairest price your going to find in that part of town, especialy since its a new bar on the block.
Usually its more expensive to go out in the center of town.

The bar staff are lovely after youve been in a few time you soon get to see their great personalities, and if your stuck for credit to call a taxi at that witching hour thay are always more than happy to ring one up and have it on its way.

Cant foget the food! The menu has more than the average steak pie and chips you tend to get in pubs, from kormas too mozzarella melts, giant burgers and of course for those of us that cant resist a nice portion of chips nd cheese!!

The couple who run the establishment have done a fantastic job, a big well done to Cheral and Edward

Wicked venue. Such a refreshing change for Edinburgh to have a chilled out bar with proper music! Decor rocks too!

Excellent rock jukebox, friendly staff, good food and decent priced drinks. 'nuff said.

Oh, and they have free WiFi.
