My pal moved to the area & we tried this pub we were very unsure as we know the rep of Leith. He had a house warming & then went out!!
We had a look at all pubs in area before we were going up town & we thought Volunteer looked the best. So we went in .....
It was a great night & we have been back in since!
The male guys in our company thought the staff were good looking, the girls thought they were really friendly! We stayed all night till the pub closed! We sang our hearts out, we were not hasseled & had great FUN!!
Infact we saw more trouble up the town than we saw in the Volunteer!!
They also do a great Curry on a Thursday!!

its a great friendly place to go people think thats its a bit of an old mans pub but its not really everyone is welcome it has a good look with a big arm chairs at the bottom end good place to relax and meet interesting people
all round good pub best place to get a real idea of what edinburgh is like
