Reviews for The Halfway House
We went away to Edinburgh for a mini Xmas break in 2008 and thought this pub was amazing. We wanted some traditional scottish food to eat and spoke to a local called James who said that the Halfway House produced the best in Edinburgh and at very reasonable prices too! He was not wrong at all. It's a very lovely cosy pub, there are only about 5 tables to sit at and it used to be known in the old days as the place where the meat market workers would have their breaks and enjoy a beer or two.
We had game pie as they were so busy there were no stovies or haggis left...or much else. (It was Hogmany after all...so to be expected). We were at this pub on our last day and regretted not stopping by sooner. All the locals and tourists go to this hotspot...which is located down the wonderful crooked steps of fleshmarket. If you want a taste of Scotland, you should make a visit to Halfway House. I will post a pic soon.
