This restaurant is inside the Grand Hotel. We went for lunch on Sat 19/9/9 and were delighted. The decor is classic and comfortable, not at all faded like some hotels. The staff were welcoming, friendly and immaculately dressed. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was superb. My pike mouse starter was probably the best starter I have had anywhere. The main was a cock-au-van which was cooked to perfection with a silky flavour packed souce. Sweet was a puff pastry mango tart & ice cream. We just had a class of wine as it was lunch. This was expensive at 8 & 9 pounds a glass and we were not shown the bottle before it was poured so it could have been anything. However the set lunch @ £21.50 for three courses is outstanding value for what can truly be described as "Fine Dining". Highly recommended, we will be going again soon but to try the the Garden Restaurant, the other restaurant in the hotel. Hope that is as good.
