Reviews for Shaheens
A friendly family run restaurant. Food has that home cooked taste and appearance. Indeed when we were eating there the owners family were also having a meal. The garlic prawns I had for a starter were creamy and delicious and the King Prawn Korma is to die for. Extensive menu catering for all tastes. If you like Indian cooking as much as I do you will have a ball.
Shaheens Indian Bistro is a short walk away from the busy centre of Durham in the quieter North Bailey. Despite this it is a popular little place which is no doubt down to the consistently good service and decent food. I have been here a couple of times and had thoroughly enjoyable evenings. I like the look of the building from outside, it looks like an old fashioned post office complete with letter box, which would be because that is in fact what it used to be! I like the busy decor, the tinkling background music, the cheerful staff and of course, I like my Indian food. The menu is extensive and vegetarian friendly. Apparently they now do happy hours at excellent value. It does get busy, so book a table in advance.
