There is currently two Rothwells chip shops in Doncaster. Although a stone throws away from each other, I would recommend both. To date I have ordered both takeaway traditional fish n chips as well as fishcakes and cannot recommend them enough. To be honest i have lost track how many times I have ordered there over the years but am pleased to say I cannot ever remember having a bad meal. I would particularly recommend the cafe. The lunch menu is reasonable priced and as ever excellent food. Although a word of warning: be prepared to wait. There are often queues!. Especially on market days!>

Rothwells is a fish and chip shop in the heart of Doncaster's market place. It has a take away at the front and a restaurant at the back. Both serve excellent and reasonably priced food. Unlike other chippys the food is never overly greasy and there is always plenty of it. I would suggest sharing if you aren't a big eater.

The staff are wonderful coping with the large amount of customers, that a fantastic fish and chip shop will attract, in a polite and friendly manner.

It is suitable for all ages and anyone who is a lover of the great fish and chip shop won't be disappointed by this one.

Rothwells has got to be the best chippy in town, and if they don't lure you in at one end of the market the chances are they will grab you at the other end.

The one by the market is a takeaway and it is good, as you can tell by the queues and by the number of people wandering about munching their fish and chips. There's nothing quite like eating fish and chips in the street and Rothwells is the one to eat in Doncaster.

The fish is tasty and the batter is always crunchy but light. The chips...well, all chippys seem to have off days and you get some soggy ones, but on average Rothwelss seem to have this sorted and it hasn't happened often to me.

Its sister shop on Copley Road is a little bigger but they both pack the same punch when it comes to the food.

Both shops are clean and the staff are friendly in both.
I'd recommend either of the two shops to anyone.
