Reviews for The Banana Leaf
The awards lining the walls of this delightful little establishment pay testament to the care with which your food is prepared. I like my Indian food whether that is your normal Bangladeshi affair or as here Southern Indian cuisine. Checkout the Chicken 65 for starters or maybe a dosa then move onto the Spicy Southern Indian Fried Meat or one of the other many succulent dishes. The usual indication that it is authentic, i.e. Indians eat here too, adds to the knowledge that this is pukka!
Tip:
Check out the wine list, I know it's an Indian and you should be washing it down with Cobra but if you like your white wine they do a fine Chablis for about £13 a bottle and you pay a similar amount if you like red for a St Emillion! A those are the most expensive on the list!!!!!!
Southern Indian food at its finest here - served with quiet efficiency by a great team. The fried meat or fried prawns sound very plain, but are a thing of great beauty - spicy, fragrant and moreish. Also has the best value wine list in Croydon, with some real bargains.
Definitely NOT one for the Chicken Tikka Masala crowd, which is to be encouraged!
