a real treasure chest of delights. so nice to see an independent store with such good choice, with a butchers, fishmongers, deli and a counter full of ready to eat meals and delicious cakes, i find it hard to leave without half the shop in my basket.

Not actually located in Colchester, but on the London side of the town this delicatessen is a feast for the eyes. It sells some of the more 'out of the ordinary' products but you need to watch you're not paying over the odds for items you could pick up in the supermarket quite a bit cheaper.

I am always amazed by the amount some people do buy.

The counters around the edge are the best feature of the Food Company, fruit/vegetables; butchers; bakers/cakes; high quality prepared meals; fish mongers; cheese counter; cold meats/pies and olives are the best parts.

You can eat quite reasonably upstairs and the menu changes every from time to time, with the option to have tea/coffee and cake, something light or something more substantial. I've never been disappointed by the quality of the food served.
