Beth Chatto Gardens

Reviews for Beth Chatto Gardens

The beth chatto gardens is at elmstead market on the out skirts of colchester and only a ten minute drive from there. It has a really good selection of plants in the well stocked garden centre. Most of these are well priced and are around the £3.60 area for an individual pot. The dry garden area is lovely and can be seen as you walk in towards the garden centre. You do not have to pay to get in to the garden centre or the dry gardens and can still use the cafe with out paying the entrance fee. Have not as yet seen the main garden but will do so one day.

Beth chatto gardens has a cafe, garden centre, a dry garden and the main gardens for you to see and enjoy. You can buy a yearly pass for 2 for £20 or for 1 for £15 which enables you to visit time after time. The main garden is the part you have to pay to see, the rest is all free. It is beautiful and the gardens change with each season giving you something new to see and enjoy. You can take children in to the main garden for free. The plant nursery is stocked with the same sort of plants that you see in the gardens them selves, so if you see a plant you would like whilst in the gardens, you can, if you feel inspired, get hold of the plant you need. Take a picnic and a book on a summers day and just sit and relax.

Beth Chatto is a lovely old woman from colchester who is almost 100 years old. She is internationally known as being a fabulous gardener, and Colchester has the great privilege of hosting her gardens which are open to the public. If you are interested in or attracted by horticulture then this is a definite must see, do not miss out! miles of beautiful gardens home to stunning roses of all descriptions. Most of us in the area take it for granted and do not visit enough, so let’s all make the most of having something so wonderful on our doorsteps. If you are a tourist, you must visit these lovely gardens!
