The Big Sleep.
Booking or room at The Big Sleep was easy and uncomplicated, so, when we stayed, we expected this to be echoed in our visit.
We arrived at the hotel at around 6pm, unfortunately, for the size of the hotel, the carpark is ridiculously small, holding something like ten cars at maximum, so if you are unlucky, you will have to pay extra for the NCP carpark for the night.
The Reception was efficient and courteous enough. The corridors and lifts etc were well maintained inside the actual building, though they could do with a facelift.
Our room was very basic for the amount of money we paid, and having stayed in a number of the hotels in Cardiff, I felt that maybe this wasn't amazing value for money. Cleanliness wise, there was no problem at all. The room did lack any sort of wow factor. It reminded me very much of the standard travel lodge room, however at an inflated price.
The bar area lacks atmosphere, but for a hotel it isn't the worst I have been in. Drinks are a reasonable price. It does look a little bit tired though.
It is situated right by the CIA which is handy if you are in town to see a gig. It is also incredibly close to Cardiff's shopping centre.
In all, if you can get a good deal on a room, it is a perfectly fine place to stay, parking aside. As long as you realise that it is a good location at the cost of luxury.
It is a basic, reasonably priced hotel in the centre of Cardiff.
