I haven't been for a while now, but the doubles were up to £1.20 (still cheap but not the draw they used to be, especially as they are disgusting) and the smoking ban has not been kind to stinky old Metro's!

Reviews for Club Metropolitan
Metro's was my regular Wednesday night out as a student, back about five years ago the doubles were 60p and the cigarette smoke masked the smell of stale armpit and vomit.
I haven't been for a while now, but the doubles were up to £1.20 (still cheap but not the draw they used to be, especially as they are disgusting) and the smoking ban has not been kind to stinky old Metro's!
The other reviews are right about the friendly alternative crowd and free toast, and it's still a great choice for students, but it just ain't what it used to be.
This place is well known to be a little grotty, a little grungy and even a little stinky. It gets very hot and humid and sweaty so this isn't for people who are hygeine freaks. It does have a great atmosphere with plenty of alternative and indie kids in there that are far less intimidating that chavs and so it is usually a safe place to go. the lighting is good and the drink offers are even better. I would recommend going just to say you have gone. It is a legend of a place and especially for people wanting to get away from all the hip/hop trance clubbing type places. A must for any indie kid visiting cardiff!
...or to the weekly faithful, "Sweatros". Now you may wonder why a bar that is famous for being a sweaty pit gets four stars? That queue is long long long for a reason.
1) Cheap. Okay, so entry is steep-ish for Cardiff, but on Wednesdays they do the cheapest doubles in town at £1.19 these days. If you pick up a flyer, this makes a great night a cheap night.
2) Music. Alternative, whatever that means, is the order of the night at 'tros. If you're sick of going out and having to listen to cheesy dance, r&b, and pop, then Metros is where you should be instead. I'm pretty sure the playlist hasn't changed all that much in the last few years, but there is something comforting about that.
3) People. You will meet so many people in Metros. It's fun, friendly and a bit of a community. If you are a student in Cardiff, it's pretty much the most important night of the week and a vital part of growing up in the city.
4) Toast. They give out free toast at the end of the night! Yumyum!
You're either going to love it or hate it.
