Truly wonderful little Italian cafe 10th September 2008

We were shopping in the the arcades, the kids (6 and 2) were fed up and hungry. We needed to find somewhere to sit down and eat where the kids wouldn't be scolded for making noise. So we popped our heads in and asked the waitress if they were happy to have kids in. We were made very welcome and the staff made a fuss of the children.

The place is small but not cramped, the menu consists of simple but tasty dishes (most of the dishes have the name of a composer in them). The prices are very reasonable for city centre dining and the kids portions were generous.

We were sat right in front of the kitchen so had the pleasure to hear the chef singing away whilst he cooked. He obviously loves to cook and loves music. The love for cooking showed in the freshly cooked to order dishes that we were served. They were as close to italian home cooking as you can get in a restaurant.

Don't let the decor and size put you off. This is really worth visiting for a lunch time break from the hectic shops.

This is one of those places you think just doesn't exist anymore. It's very small, and therefoe cosy, but friendly and not part of any chain. The sort of place you know is run by and worked in by those who love it. You can imagine it being one of the first places to serve sphagetti in Cardiff. This is where you want to bring your kids to show them that food in town is more than McDonalds and Burger King. The food is basic pasta but done well and quickly. They even have a cubby hole to the side where you can by "slippers" a cross between pitta and pizza, fullof garlic and the ultimate fast food.
