The City Arms is located almost directly oposite the Millenium Stadium enterance meaning it is often very busy on big match days, however on non match days it is fairly quite during the day and can become more lively at night. Drinking at night is enhanced by being able to drink out side the establishment, it has no actual beer garden but tables are placed outside the door for patrons, smokers etc. As regards music its traditionally indie/guitar based music and spans the decades though obviously a higher emphasis is placed on modern bands or Britpop rather than the likes of Blondie the Ramones etc. The price is fairly competitive for both achohol and the traditional bar food menu.

I like this pub because it is a pub, not a bar, cafe/bar or lifestyle but a pub. Yes it's in town so it can get busy and yes people do drink there but even on rugby nights it's always friendly and a great place to be. There is generally a fair mix of people there form local and traveled rugby fans, students and those making their way to clubs. The music is fairly indieish with dj's on one side and a varied duke box on the other. Many a time we've gone here with the intention of moving on to a club but enjoying ourselves so much we did not want to leave so stayed on.
