The Funky Buddha Lounge
34 Woodville Road, Cardiff, CF24 4EA
It's a good setting for a few relaxing drinks, the music is good and not overly loud and there are comfy sofas to sit on. Considering the small size it's well laid-out.

Good choice of imported lagers and good food too, although a little on the pricey side.

Went there on a Wednesday night and found ourselves to be the only ones left in the place when it got late, but the one staff member made us feel welcome to stay as long as we wanted, and we didn't feel rushed to finish our drinks like.
Went there for food and when it turned out they didn't have what I'd ordered in stock they offered to chuck in some free chips to apologise, which shows they have the right sort of attitude!
The funky buddha loung does have some buddhas dotted around and is funky so the name is accurate.
We have been there both with and without children, I would recommend without. Its not that we were made to feel unwelcome just that the kids were noisy with the wooden floors and jumping on the leather sofas.
The food is simple but tasty and comes in generous portions. Lager is continental and expensive. My wife enjoyed her cappuccino and I enjoyed my beer. The music was super funky and they had a cocktail menu too, which we might have sampled if the prices were a bit more reasonable.
All in all, we have enjoyed ourselves each time we visited and would go back again.
The Funky Budda is a lively but small bar tucked away in a corner of student-land Cathays. If you’re in the area it’s well worth visiting for a pre-meal drink, or you could always eat here. There’s only a small menu, but from what I’ve tasted it’s well prepared and presented, plus you get a huge portion. The food, and especially the drinks, are very pricey. The latter are all imported lager such as Nastro Azzuro (excuse my spelling) and cost about £4 a pint, so order halves if you want to avoid a heart attack. Good music adds to the laid-back atmosphere, and although it gets a bit noisy it’s possible to hold a two-way conversation without shouting.
