    Fun for kids!

We liked this place so much we bought an annual ticket. First of all, entrance to Techniquest is fairly expensive. I would recommend buying an annual ticket if you live in Cardiff and will go more than once every few months. Buying the annual ticket means you can get rid of the feeling of having to do everything on the one day of your visit in order to “get your money’s worth”. Techniquest is fun for adults and children alike. There are presentations that change every couple of weeks and the exhibits are rotated so that you don’t see the same thing on every visit. I must admit that now we have an annual ticket, Techniquest has become a place where we can just pop in for an hour or two on a rainy weekend just to keep the children amused. And there are lots to keep them amused. It’s worth taking some spare clothes if your children are likely to get wet playing with the water exhibits.

    Education is fun!
    Current
I remember going here on a school trip at least once a year, and I always loved it. My most vivid memory is the hall of mirrors and the ball that is levitated in the air by just a gust of air (so it seems). Children will learn a lot here, including the laws of gravity and the basic anatomy of the human body. However, they won't find this learning process tedious as they will be having so much fun enjoying the various activities offered here! Also, there are various shows displayed here sometimes that offer interactive demonstrations, and the gift shop will definitely NOT leave your pocket empty.

I think this place is really good for children. It allows them to have fun but they do learn quiet alot. There are many activities for them to do and plenty of apace to run around. There are talk and shows that you can take part in or you can just walk around at your own pace. It is situated in Cardiff bay which is quiet nice because the surroundings are great. There are places you can pop out and go for lunch. This is probably a good idea as this can be pricey in the venue. Also I think it is a little bit expensive to get in but you can leave and go back in later on in the day if you wish. I would recommend for people of all ages. Even the adults can have fun in there. You can check out the webiste for more details

    Fun Family Day Out
    Current
My husband and I took out 6 year old daughter to technequest, she had been before with the school and kept asking to go back. There are lots of science interactive activities for children to do that are fun and educational at the same time.

We signed up for 3 of the shows, the first was in a small auditorium and was about creating fire. It was well presented, informative and my daughter enjoyed it. The second show was in the small dome and consisted of a talk and display on the dome of the star constellations, again very enjoyable and interesting. The third show was in the dome again and was about the moon landing. This was our favourite show, the young man presenting the show knew his stuff and regularly engaged the visitors in discussions about the moon landing.

Once you pay for a days entry you can leave and return the same day. We went out for lunch as the cafe has a poor and expensive range of food options. We returned after lunch and spent a bit longer with our daughter choosing her favourite activities to have a final visit with and then headed home after a nice day out.

I would recommend techniquest as a family day out for all ages and combined with lunch and a walk around the bay its perfect.

I really rate this place as it seems to appeal to kids of all ages. There is enough space for kids to crowd round exhibits and still allow the rest of us to catch up. It is also a very light building and avoids the claustrophobia that you can get in some places. The shows are always pretty good, some are free but others have to be paid for, you book on entrance. Although the entrance fee can be a bit pricey once you get two or more adults going which can put off larger families the annual membership is well worth the money, you can get your monies worth on trip three for one adult and two kids. We have done birthday parties here which are also good as they do the goody bags which were brilliant and when you see the show the staff call on the birthday girl/boy to come down and join in.

    Educational fun for the kids
    Current
Cardiff, Techniquest Science Discovery Centre - Lots of educational fun for kids of all ages - includes interactive experiments, mazes, puzzles, PC room.

Has a lift and a cafe with reasonably priced meals, specialises in toddler and kids meals, ating area outside too. Kids have fun and learn things at the same time.

My two have been going since they were aged 2 and 6 and they still love it now (aged 9 and 13). A full day out and close to waterfront and centre of Cardiff.

    Good Points

Lots to do for every age and the adults will be amused too. Easy to get to from Cardiff town centre.

    Bad Points

Extra charges made for theatre and the adult meals can be pricey.
