To go on the row boat tour of the Stour River, you have to go through this ancient restaurant. It says 1500 on it's door, but it was actually built in 1495.

We enjoyed the lamb and steak cutlets very much. They had a lovely new potato and broccoli side to it. My sister opted for the seafood dish... we were all very sated with our meals.

The red wine was delicious too! (it was from South Africa, so this wasn't a surprise) ;)

I'm a fan of proper english food and thats what this place provides (amoung other things) i cant wait to go back.

I went here and had a pie, it turned up really quickly; worryingly quickly in fact. We were upstairs which to honest isn't that nice, the food was ok but nothing to rave about, what I would describe as 'pub grub'.

Having said all that there is a nice terrace downstairs and the main part of the resturant seemed much nicer than the part were in.

So, I would say give it a try but stay downstairs or opt for the rather nice terrace out the back.

I took my dutch friend & my housemates for a daytrip to Canterbury and after a pleasent boat tour down the river Stour rowed by gorgeous Jason it was time for lunch.

What better place then this restaurant Weavers, which is on the river Stour banks and is also where the boat trips leave from and if the weather is warm enough there can be nothing better then eating under the veranda and watching all those handsome, young men rowing their boats on a historic river guided tour.

The restaurant is in the middle of Old Canterbury town and this is where the ducking stool is situated.

The food is very wholesome, good value for money and friendly service

We indulged in some of the fine pies the restaurant has to offer and in fact is famous for. I had a divine chicken & mushrrom in white wine sauce. Han had a fish pie - please do note this comes with a creamy mashed potatoe topping so don't be dissapointed you don't have a crispy top & suddenly "want that one".Clare had a turkey & cranberry pie also you can request half chips & half veg
Lisa was as "good" as and ordered a huge salad but the champagne she ordered showed her "wicked" side.
