The Mermaid is one place for which the rest of us in Cambridge have to envy Chesterton-ites. It's a plain-looking takeaway but the chef is formerly of The Dorchester Hotel, apparently, and it shows in the quality of the food. Despite this pedigree, it's very standard menu, but we know what we like, don't we? www.mermaidtakeaway.co.uk
