Reviews for Tenpin
We used Tenpin for my sons 6th birthday party and whilst much of it was superb there were aspects which we were not expecting and could do with being reviewed.
The party package is excellent value for money - a full game for all of the children in the party, unlimited soft drinks for the children and a complimentary hot/cold drink for any adults which are part of the group (excellent!!) as well as a party bag for each child. Our party bag was superb as we received an art package for each child which included some great quality items - not expected and much better than the usual plastic skittle bottle! The package also includes a meal for the children. This was our first issue as the meal was served to the children on the lane! They had to perch on the benches with a polystyrene tray on their laps, eating hot food with their fingers. When I expressed concern I was told that they were not allowed to eat at the tables due to a health and safety issue. I did point out that surely 6 year olds and hot food on laps = health and safety issue.
The morning also includes a disco - again on a slippery flooring on the lanes (??). I found that the children were exhausted playing a full game, the boys were running around brandishing balloon swords (again a great freebie along with face painting if wanted) and the disco proved one excitement too far!!
All in all a great deal but you may need to tailor using your own judgement.
I was initially pleased when they built a bowling alley in Cambridge as we have been aching for one for years but I have been here twice and on both occasions left disappointed.
It is very, very busy and extremely noisy - not just the usual bowling noise, but loud music and it is hard to hear yourself think there.
It is very expensive and does not make for a cheap day/night out, definitely more of a one off treat.
Both times I have been I had to wait for a lane, luckily there is a bar there so you can sit and have a drink in there while you wait.
The service is rather slow considering how busy it is, and we had to actually go and find someone to attend to us at the "shoe counter" which was disappointing
I would go again, but only because there is no other one in Cambridge!
