Reviews for Travelodge
I stayed at the Travelodge for one night recently and was very disappointed. It was £70 for a shared room which did not include breakfast (you have to pay an extra £5 each for that) we paid for the breakfast anyway as we were hungry and it was a self service style area for eating, very small and quite cramped. The food wasn't impressive, I had a bit of the bacon but it was very overcooked so ended up with croissants and jam instead - hardly worth £5!
The staff at the check in desk were helpful once you actually got served - I had to press the buzzer twice before anybody bothered to come to book us in. That was not the best introduction to the hotel.
The lobby is very clean and neat, not very big, but there was a relaxed atmosphere there.
The room was average in size, the bed wasn't particularly comfortable and there were only the 5 standard channels available on the television, plus a few radio stations. The bathroom was very clean, although I was a bit surprised to see mould/mildew aroudn the bath as the hotel is still quite new so that was a bit of a let down.
The views out of the windows leave a lot to be desired - the main road below and some takeaways and shops. Certanly not the place to stay if you wish to take in the sights of Cambridge!
The location isn't too bad - there is a cinema and bowling alley below along with a couple of restaurants and a nightclub and it is a 5 minute car journey to the city centre. If like me you don't drive there is a frequent bus service into the city centre just across the road which is handy.
I would recommend it for anyone who wants to stay for a maximum of 2 nights and won't be spending much time inside. A basic hotel really at far from reasonable prices.
