Reviews for Abbaye
Up until now, i have never been to a belgian brasserie, so i wasn't really sure what to expect!
I'd heard good things about Abbaye and i'm glad the reputation was well deserved.
They have a huge range of beers, some i'd never heard of before! Its well worth coming here just to try the beers!
The service here is fantastic, i couldn't fault it at all. The waiter we had was really nice.
There is a large selection of food on offer, quite a few fish based dishes but also plenty of meat dishes too. A few vegetarian as well. All the meals i've ever had here have always been delicious!
The venue was chosen for its central location, the menu which needed to cater for a wide range in tastes and its reasonable prices.
Being a Saturday night the place was packed, despite this our table was ready and the service was good and remained constant throughout the evening. We were not rushed and there was a measured time between each course.
All of the courses when of a good size and quality. Amongst the dishes ordered we tried the mussels, cod/spinach croquettes, Crevettes Piquantes (king prawns), battered cod, sirloin steaks, and the Braised lamb shank in a rosemary and garlic jus and several desserts. All were good.
Abbaye, being a Belgium brasserie, if known for its mussel and range of beers...a justified reputation!
